The Place to Be for Horseback Riding, Camping, and More!

HISTORY

The ranch is a great place for horse trail riding and birthday party places. The Old Caldwell cattle trail crosses the South Canadian River southeast of Fay, OK, crosses our ranch, and continues up to Canton, OK (New Cantonment on the map). From there, it turns northeast and heads up to Caldwell, KS. Thus why we named our riding stables after this trail.

The ranch where Old Caldwell Trail Stables is located was begun in 1893 as a family homestead farm & ranch. Although the name, due to marriage, has changed over the years, the ranch has remained in the same family being handed down through the maternal line to the present day

720 acres of pasture & woods await your recreational pleasure.  Bring your own horse or ride one of ours through scenic woods, along shaded creeks winding through sand hills around cedar, cottonwood, & oak trees.

Our riding program is tailored to each guest's requirements. We do take supervised trail rides but once basic horsemanship is mastered, guests can then ride at will on their own exploring the many facets of the ranch.

Primitive camping is available on the ranch as well. Pitch your tent or sleep under the stars. Cook your own meals or arrangements can be made to have them prepared for you by our own Cookie.

Our interpretive trail ride takes you on a tour of our ranch where our wrangler will thrill you with true stories of the Native Americans, cowboys, cavalry, marshals & outlaws who once lived and roamed this ranch and surrounding territory.

Add a splash of flavor to the interpretive ride & let us cook for you on the trail a fare any cowhand would relish; ranch beans, corn on the cob, fried taters & onion and a longhorn steak that will melt in your mouth and canned peaches, of course, for dessert. Some deviation in menu can be made with prior notification.

Our rules are simple and founded with your safety in mind.

  • 1 Reservations are required for all ranch activities. Walk up for guided trail rides may be accepted.
  • 2 No one may ride who is less than 8 years old.
  • 3 No one may ride double on ranch horses.
  • 4 No one may ride ranch horses who is in excess of 250 pounds.
  • 5 No one may ride while intoxicated.
  • 6 Any horse brought to the ranch must have current coggins certificate.

Our ranch is tailored to horse people as the activities lined out in this brochure (website) show. However, the things you can do on the ranch are only limited by the imagination and we are happy to work with your ideas to help you have the ranch experience you desire.

We work only with small groups of people at a time so that we can give our the attention to detail that you deserve, providing the highest quality ranch vacation possible. So, you will never have to wait in line for a horse or compete for a wrangler's attention.

All use of ranch is by reservation so give us a call, drop us a line, contact us on our website, email us and let us begin your prairie adventure.
